Why you'll love this experience

- Kayak and navigate through the Orinoco cataracts at Maipures
- Guided petroglyph hike through pre-Columbian rock art sites
- Llanos wildlife: capybaras, orinoco crocodiles, giant anteaters
- Stargazing with near-zero light pollution on the savanna
Day-by-day breakdown
Fly to Puerto Carreño, meet your park guide, and boat to the park entrance. Settle into camp on the Tomo River and enjoy an evening savanna walk to watch the Llanos sunset.
Take a boat and then portage through the famous Maipures cataracts — the largest rapids on the Orinoco accessible to visitors. Swim in natural pools and observe Orinoco crocodiles from a safe vantage point.
Hike through savanna habitats to reach ancient petroglyphs carved by pre-Columbian cultures. Afternoon game drive for capybaras, giant anteaters, and savanna birds including the Jabiru stork.
Full day kayaking and fishing on the Tomo River. Evening debrief and guided stargazing from a sandbar with no light pollution — the Milky Way is unmistakable from this latitude.
Early morning birding on the savanna before packing up and boating back to Puerto Carreño for your flight out.
