Day-by-day breakdown
Land in Riohacha, meet your Wayuu guide, and stop at Laguna de los Flamencos to photograph the flamingo colonies at golden hour. Drive to a ranchería for dinner and your first night sleeping in hammocks.
Travel by 4x4 across red-clay desert paths to Cabo de la Vela. Enjoy kite-surfing conditions on the water, hike Pilón de Azúcar cliff for panoramic Caribbean views, and watch the sun set over the sea.
Rise early to reach Colombia's northernmost point and photograph dunes that plunge directly into Caribbean water. Swim in a desert bay, visit the lighthouse, and camp near the coastline with a local Wayuu family.
Visit a Wayuu craft community to see mochilas woven and learn about the matrilineal culture and oral traditions. Afternoon return drive across the desert, with final night in Riohacha.
