The Ultimate Amazon Packlist
When you come to Leticia remember you are stepping into the Amazon jungle, so pack light to make travelling as easy as possible. We recommend you bring the following things with you to feel more comfortable:
- Travel Documents
Your Passport (and copies), travel insurance certificate, visa if applicable and travel tickets.
- Credit card and/or cash
There are several cash machine available in Leticia and there are exchange places where you can exchange USD, EUROS, Reales and Soles.
We recommend you travel with a backpack as you will have to carry your luggage in some areas. The Osprey Pack Atmos AG 65 is a great option.
We recommend the Osprey Packs Daylite Daypack – it is a great lightwight daypack.
- First Aid Kit including anti-histamines and any medication or prescription you need.
One of these First Aid Kits would work fine: The Aootek Survival Kit or the smaller option from Surviveware.
- Mosquitos repellent
We recommend NOPIKEX (DEET). If you know about a DEET-free option that works well, take that one along and let us know – we would love to find a good DEET-free mosquito repellent.
- Biodegradable soap
We love using Dr. Bronner’s Liquid Lavender Soap – it smells great and is biodegradable.
- Biodegradable shampoo
The Body Wash & Shampoo from Joshua Tree is a great organic, plant-based option.
- Biodegradable Sun cream
We recommend the Reef Safe Sunscreen SPF 30.
- Quick dry towel
We like the 9th WAVE YuccaTowl – it is lightwight and dries super fast.
- Sun hat
Something like the Columbia Unisex Bora Bora II Booney Hat would work great in the Amazon.
- Long thin trousers
We highly recommend you bring along something like the Columbia Silver Ridge Cargo Pants (men) or the Columbia Women’s Saturday Trail II Convertible Pant (women). Remember to choose a light colour.
- Long thin shirt
We recommend the Columbia Men’s PFG Tamiami II Long Sleeve Shirt or the Columbia Women’s PFG Tamiami II Long Sleeve Shirt because they feature UV Sun Protection. Remember to choose a light colour.
- Rain cover
You will need something to protect you from the rain. A simple rain poncho would do.
- Water bottle
We like the NALGENE Tritan Water Bottle.
- Multifuntional pocket knife
The Victorinox Swiss Army Pocket Knife is a great option with lots of features.
We recommend bringing along a headlamp like this one. It is rechargable and waterproof.
- Rechargable Batteries
Never go without batteries, and preferable rechargable ones. If you don’t have them yet, we recommend the BESTSUN batteries & charger.
- Waterproof case for electronics
We recommend you bring along one like this.
- Travel plug/international adapter
We like this one, it is compact and universal.
- Power bank
We recommend the Altigo 20100mAh Portable Charger, but any other power bank that does the trick is fine.

Choose one of many or install a Spanish Language App.
