CALANOA JUNGLE EXPERIENCE

During the “Calanoa Jungle Experience” you will head up the Amazon River, stay at the Calanoa Lodge, visit the community of Mocagua and the Monkey Rehabilitation Centre Maikuchiga. You will also visit Puerto Nariño and the Tarapoto Lake without compromising your comfort.

DAY 1: CALANOA

We will pick you up from the airport and head to the Calanoa Lodge by boat

DAY 2: MOCAGUA

You will head by boat to the Calanoa Lodge and explore the jungle

DAY 3: PTO NARIÑO

We head to Puerto Nariño and spend the afternoon on the Tarapoto Lake

DAY 4: LETICIA AIRPORT

We head back to Leticia and bring you to your hotel or the airport

DAY 1: CALANOA (-/L/D)

We welcome you at the airport and head to the port to take a boat to the Calanoa Lodge where we will be having lunch. In the afternoon we will go on an ecological walk through the Nature Reserve and on a boat ride along the Mata Mata River. We will learn about the flora and fauna of the area and hopefully spot many different animals. Dinner is followed by a night walk to experience the jungle in a very different way, allowing you to spot the regions nocturnal animals.

Accommodation is either in rooms with double beds (couples) or a room with multiple beds (groups)

DAY 2: MOCAGUA + MAIKUCHIGA (B/L/D)

After breakfast we make our way to the village Mocagua. Mocagua is a Tikuna community that is dedicated to the conservation of the regional ecosystem. We have lunch in the village and continue to the monkey rehabilitation centre Maikuchiga, where illegally captured as well as injured/sick monkeys are rehabilitated and prepared for their return to the jungle as free beings. We spend the rest of the afternoon free to relax at Calanoa Lodge, do another hike or swim in the river.

DAY 3: PUERTO NARIÑO (B/L/D)

We will have breakfast in the lodge and take a private boat ride to Puerto Nariño where we will explore the village and have lunch. In Puerto Nariño we can visit the Natatuma Foundation where animal statues are presented. We can also head to the viewpoint – a fantastic place for photos of the village. After lunch at a local restaurant we will go by private boat to the Tarapoto Lake to spot pink and grey dolphins, swim or go Piranha fishing before we had back to the Calanoa Lodge. We will end the day with dinner at the lodge.

DAY 4: LETICIA (B/-/-)

We will have breakfast early in the morning and take the public boat to Leticia, which will take us around 2 hours. We can either drop you off in town or bring you to the airport.

WATER LEVEL

High water levels can be expected in February, March, Abril and the highest levels can be expected all through May and beginning of June. The water levels drop from mid-June.​

WHAT IS INCLUDED?​

Transportation by land and water, accommodation for 3 nights, meals (3x breakfast, 3x lunch, 3x dinner), (non-alcoholic) refreshments and entrance fees as well as professional, multilingual, local Amazonian guides and a contribution to our educational and environmental project.

WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED?​

Your flight tickets, the entrance tax to Leticia as well as any alcoholic drinks are NOT included.
